Follow these steps to access your ID card:

1. Create an account with Academic HealthPlans (AHP)
2. After registering with AHP, create an account with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. To create your account, you will need to use your Member ID number.
3. Once both accounts are created, you can access your ID card using the BCBSTX App. Visit the link below to learn more about your ID card.

2. Enter your school issued student ID number and date of birth
3. Click "Submit"

All registered Undergraduate Domestic students taking six (6) or more credit hours {three (3) or more credit hours in the summer} are eligible to enroll in the insurance plan. Undergraduate Domestic students may complete their enrollment online.

All registered International students on non-immigrant visas, taking one (1) or more credit hours are required to participate in the Baylor University Student Health Insurance Plan. Although students are welcome to submit an application for a waiver, in order to have such waiver approved, the plan submitted must be equivalent to the University Student Health Insurance Plan in all material respects.

All J Scholars and students on campus for Academic Research or Study are required to participate in the Baylor University Student Health Insurance Plan.

International, J Scholars and students on campus for Academic Research or to Study are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan and the cost of the plan will appear on your tuition bill. Please contact Student Health Services for more information.

Graduate Students taking three (3) or more credit hours, including online graduate students, are required to enroll in the insurance plan unless comparable coverage is provided by the required deadline. This includes online graduate students and those in a full-time equivalency course/dissertation. Students may complete the enrollment online.

All registered Seminary Students taking five (5) or more credit hours {three (3) or more credit hours in the summer} are eligible to enroll in the insurance plan.

Enrollment will be verified each semester. You must meet the required credit hours for each semester enrolled. For students applying for new SHIP coverage to be active for a Summer semester, additional enrollment requirements will apply.

Dependent coverage is available. Students and their dependents will NOT be automatically re-enrolled.

Watch for an email notification from AHP with the information and link to the portal to enroll in coverage for Fall 2025.

If you have already registered, you will receive the information on DATE, OR the day after you register for courses.

Continuation of Coverage is only available to Insured Students and covered dependents who have graduated or are no longer eligible for coverage under the Baylor University Student Health Insurance Plan. Covered students must have been insured in the semester prior to termination.  (Dental continuation is not available.) Enrollment for this coverage must be submitted within 30 days of the end of prior coverage.
